Afterword, a Conversation

 Oct 17, 2015, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Humanities Day at University of Chicago, Logan Center for the Arts 915 E. 60th St, Screening Room 201

Composer and Columbia University professor George Lewis reflects on Afterword, an Opera as a “Bildungsoper”—a coming-of-age opera of ideas and testament—whose libretto he drew from his 2008 book, A Power Stronger Than Itself: The AACM and American Experimental Music (University of Chicago Press).  Afterword director Sean Griffin joins Lewis in the discussion, along with University of Chicago faculty members Jacqueline Najuma Stewart, Interim Director of the Gray Center and professor, Cinema & Media Studies, and James Chandler, director of the Franke Institute for the Humanities and professor, English Language & Literature.  More information here.
