Art doesn’t ask one to be right. It doesn’t demand one must know. It doesn’t need a reason to be present. It doesn’t require one to know it for it to exist to another. What I make is not what art is about. The about-ness of things gives me the ability to know things. The becoming of things allows me to trust them. Be it moving image, performance, sculpture or sound, they are all in service to understanding. They are not there to be understood. They have become supportive devices to assist me in identifying what is present, what is true. Even if that means re-presenting what I thought was already present, what I thought was already true.  It’s a practice of patience. It’s an attempt to make room for the becoming of something. -DTM
