Taking a pause during their weeklong design residency at the MCA, the artists behind the new opera Afterword discuss their vision for the upcoming performance. Premiering in October, this multimedia chamber opera explores the relation between the aesthetic and the social, viewed through the experiences of the early members of the African American experimental music collective, the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM).
