Sankofa City Summer School: Proposals for Our Future -- Video Screening/Community Conversation/Reception
Participants in Sankofa City Summer School: South Side Design Fiction Workshop present their visions for the future of our neighborhood, in the form of speculative design videos and objects that imagine new possibilities for public spaces. Presentations will be hosted by workshop leaders, legendary filmmaker, entrepreneur and activist Ben Caldwell, film scholar Jacqueline Stewart (University of Chicago, Cinema & Media Studies, Gray Center for Arts & Inquiry; Black Cinema House), designer and filmmaker Karl Baumann, François Bar (professor of Communication and Spatial Sciences, USC) and LA-based activist and artist janet e. dandridge.
We invite you to see and discuss the Summer School projects, and to propose your own visions for the future of the South Side. A reception will follow.
This project is presented by the Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry, Logan Center for the Arts, Rebuild Foundation, Black Cinema House and Connect Gallery.
